During the close to ten years that it was in operation, the sales records were slightly over 13 million devices. As noted earlier, the console did not perform well in the United States, and back in Japan, it faced stiff competition from Nintendo. It managed to stay in the markets for nearly ten years, until 1996 and this was primarily attributed to the European customers. The initial Sega Master System was released in Japan in 1986 and then in Europe and the United States in one year later.

When its successor - Sega Game Gear entered the market, it was a huge improvement from its predecessor. Master Systems emerged as of the direct competitors of Nintendo in the development and manufacture of third generation consoles. When it was released, the sale of Sega Master System rivaled that of Nintendo Entertainment System in Japan, but the same was not the case in North America where it performed so poorly. Initially, the console was known as Sega Mark II, the name Master System was also very popular in Japan. If you’re interested in the developer’s works, however, another recommended title is AlterEgo.Sega Master System, also known as SMS, is an 8-bit video gaming consoled developed and released by Sega in 1985. However, it hasn’t improved on what that version lacks, as there’s still no tutorial or save system. It’s been given a visual upgrade and the gameplay is still as fun as the 2014 version.

Needs more polishĪll in all, GraviBots (SEGA Mega Drive and Genesis) is a great puzzle game to try out if you’re a fan of the SEGA Genesis console and its puzzle- platformer games. Additionally, there’s still no save system and it only uses passwords to allow you access to your previous progress, which can be such a hassle. Unfortunately, it still doesn’t have any in-game cutscenes or narration to briefly introduce the story. Graphics-wise, this version is a step-up from the original one and has overall upgraded designs for both the character sprites and each environment. There are 20 challenging levels to clear but you can take your time. To destroy the old red bots, you must control the green bot to retrieve the gravity traps, reposition them on a wall somewhere, and use them to push the bots into deadly spikes. You’ll have to refer to the text file that comes with its downloaded folder.

The gameplay mechanics aren’t clear as there’s no in-game tutorial or instruction to guide you.
